A state-of-the-art ampitheatre display will be the centrepiece of the refurbished Armagh Planetarium when it opens next year.
Funding worth £1m was secured from the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure in April for the renovations, which is designed to make the Armagh City premises safe for disabled people. The centre is currently closed and will reopen next summer. Staff from the facility are touring around youth groups with mobile displays until their new accommodation is complete.
The planetarium is a world-renowned astronomical educational establishment. It was established in 1968 to complement the research work of Armagh Observatory.
