Ulster Community Investment Trust (UCIT) in partnership with Ardee Community Development Company and Tuath - Donegal Community and Local Development Centre have established a new cross border training and mentoring programme for community based enterprises.

The initiative is FREE OF CHARGE and aimed at providing an individually tailored programme consisting of workshops, field trips and one-to-one mentoring sessions, which will assist your organization to become sustainable into the future.

The initiative also aims to provide groups with cross border network linkages and share examples of good practice during and after completion of the Programme.

The programme is open to all community based enterprises in Northern Ireland and the six border counties of Donegal, Sligo, Leitrim, Cavan, Monaghan, and Louth. The Programme commences in late November and comprises:

  • Two  x 1 ½ day residentials (beginning and end)
  • 10 mentoring sessions on site over a six to nine month period with an assigned mentor to deal with whatever area the group participating needs covered.
  • 3  x ½ day cross-border workshops

Areas which the programme can address, though not exclusive, are:

  • Developing a Business Plan
  • Legal Aspects of a Business
  • ICT for Business
  • Market Research
  • Marketing & Sales Strategy
  • Applying to Funders/Fund Raising
  • Recruitment & Selection
  • Managing Staff
  • Financial Management
  • Financial Control/Book Keeping

Groups are expected to nominate two attendees who agree to commit to the programme in its entirety. We are primarily targeting community based enterprises which have been trading for at least two years and have economic sustainability as their primary goal over the next 2-5 years.
